CONGHAM, England: More than 200 snails slugged it out at the annual World Championships, held at the village of Congham in Norfolk on Saturday (July 20). 

Running since the 1960s the gastropod games are held on top of a table, which has a special damp cloth spread out on it.

Three circles mark the top, with snails placed around the middle rim which is the starting line. The first one to reach the outer circle wins.

Competitors can choose to bring their own snails or select one from the organiser's on the day.

The championship heats are held throughout the afternoon, with a grand final at the end with all the various heat winners.

English teacher Maria Welby, from Grantham, Lincolnshire, was crowned winner in the final when her chosen competitor Sammy crossed the line first.

In 1995, the Guinness World Record was set when a snail called Archie completed the 13-inch (33cm) course in two minutes and 20 seconds.

Sammy completed the feat in two minutes and 38 seconds. 

"I am ecstatic. I went out this morning an ordinary woman and now I'm the owner of a world champion," said Welby, as reported on the event website. 

Snail trainer Neil Riseborough said: "We've had a fantastic day. Racing was ama

zing, the best for a decade. I felt so excited all the time." 

A total of two hundred and fifteen snails battled it out this year and there were 13 snails in the final.

The Championships are held as part of a local fete and entrants pay 20p for each snail to race. All money raised goes to a local charity.

The next World Championships will be held in July 2020

I agree snails should not be forced to race around a table while everyone is watching them they are a part of earth and imagine if you were forced to race you would not like it so stop making them race

24 Hour Footprint: Digital Map

Today I learnt how to get to my history and how to duplicate.We made a drawing about what we have been on in the last 24 hour footprint we had to search the web to find the logos of somethings and some of the logos were on the side we had to duplicate the footprints leading to the logos I enjoyed doing this task because I learnt a lot of things that will help like doing ctrl+D.

Today we were learning how to screen shot and what we should do when there is something bad online we learnt when there is something bad online you should screenshot it and send it to 3 responsible adults. why 3? because if you just send it to 1 adult they might be to busy and not see it so that is why you send it to 3 people.

The killer night

I slowly walk behind my sister as a wave of axsiaty washed through my body.I step inside and get pushed to the front I look around and see empty doorways that lead to death I take one step and fear runs down my spine a brezze of cold air flys past me making me shiver I walk in some more and out of know where a clown appears I push my sister in front of me forgetting that she is afraid of of clowns.


We all run into and empty room not knowing were we are I come up with a plan to hit the clown and make an escape  I walk out of the room into the creepy hallway gripping my hands around a bat as fear drains away I hit the clown and yell ``run´´ everyone runs out of the doorway and outside to the car and mum says ``we are never going in there again´´
I repliy with ``yeah´´ 

The netball holiday program

What I did in the holiday program and what the holiday program was about and what I enjoyed and what was hard for me.

What I enjoyed about the writing is that I got to choose what I was writing about and what I found hard was trying to remember the stuff that I did  and what to write about and also what I found hard was trying to use words that would hook the reader. What the holiday program was about learning how to play netball and it was for people the don’t know netball that while.A thing I did in the holiday program was trying to shoot and to learn how to defend people.

I walk through the netball court gate I see people from different schools talking to each other. I think what am I getting myself into.THen I see Rylee,Bri,Hannah,Millie and Paige standing in a group altogether they run towards me with smiles on each others faces they all look very enthusiastic to do this Rylee says to me
“Are you going both days or just today”
I replied with
 “I don’t know” 

 then we hear whistle blow  we see Crystal come out (Crystal is the person teaching us)we sit on the stairs and listen to the values of the game one value was sportsmanship and that you have to encourage other players EG(if they drop the ball you don’t say they are useless you say it’s ok at least you tried) then  we had a game  after we got our techniques right.After we had a game we had to go home but I went to Rylee’s house first we had to drop Millie off at her house.
